The Washington, D.C. Smith & Wollensky rolled out the green carpet on February 28 for an invitation-only event sponsored by Capitol File Magazine. General Manager Joe Floyd and staff hosted over 300 guests, treating them to a food tasting prepared by Chef Nick Gough along with wine and spirits provided by beverage partners.
As part of the special Pre-50th Wine Week reception, the 300 attendees were among the first to sample the just-released Smith & Wollensky “Private Reserve” Sauvignon Blanc handcrafted by Kunde Family Estate.
“Kunde Family Estate is proud to partner with Smith & Wollensky to present this remarkable wine,” said Aaron Smith of Kunde Family Estate, who attended the event to sample the new wine with guests. “It’s a crisp, elegant and fresh wine with citrus, ripe mango and melon notes that pairs wonderfully with many of the items on the Smith & Wollensky menu.”
In addition to the Kunde Sauvignon Blanc, guests also sampled a variety of wines from Rutherford Ranch.
Gosling’s Rum provided specialty cocktails. “Black Seal Rum has become synonymous with Bermuda. Our Black Rum and Gold Rum are extremely versatile for creating cocktails, and our Family Reserve Old Rum is aged to acquire a well-balanced complexity, much like a rare scotch or cognac,” said Laura Baughman.
