Family owned and operated since
its inception in 1972, Jordan Winery is
world-renowned for its superior Cabernet
Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Located in Sonoma
County's Alexander Valley, Jordan Winery spans
1,400 acres that boast rich, complex soil and a
temperate growing season eminently suited to the
noble grapes that Jordan favors. Combining
old-world expertise and new-world technology,
Jordan produces wine that not only displays
consistent style and elegance, but also reflects
the distinctive personality of its terroir.
Jordan's commitment to consistently producing
high-quality, food-friendly wine is reflected in
its continuity of stewardship. The same vineyard
team that originally planned and cultivated the
estate, including winemaker Rob Davis, continues
to care for Jordan Vineyard
&
Winery today, hand harvesting and handcrafting
every bottle of wine. The result is wines that
are exceptionally well-balanced -- delicious in
their early years but also enhanced by aging.
Jordan Winery embraces the European concept of a
complete wine country lifestyle, in which an
estate produces much of what it consumes and
shares the overflow with family and friends.
Jordan wines evoke the essence of this Jordan
lifestyle: harmony with the land, gracious
hospitality and enjoyment of life.
Jordan Winery offers visitors a
chance to experience jordan's celebrated
hospitality through a uniquely personal wine
tasting experience. Guests are treated to a
private tour of the grounds and a detailed
explanation of jordan's well-honed winemaking
traditions and cutting edge technology before
adjourning to the library for a tasting of both
Jordan wine and Jordan estate olive oil, which
is pressed from the fruit of olive trees that
grace the property.
For thirty years, the Jordan
commitment to quality has not wavered. Now it
falls to John Jordan, son of Tom and the
winery's new Chief Executive Officer, to lead
the extended Jordan family - wines, winemakers,
and wine lovers alike - into the new century.
Today, the Jordan Estate is a living dream
shared by a community of people connected by
blood and wine. It is a dream to which John is
deeply devoted. After all, it is a family
tradition. |

THE WINE
Celebrating 20 years of winemaking
excellence,
J
Cuvee 20 proudly displays an exceptional and
stylish assemblage from the finest cool-climate
vineyard sites in the Russian River Valley. All grapes are hand-harvested into
small quarter-ton bins and placed as whole clusters,
without destemming, into our special Coquard press for a gentle
pressing cycle. Grape juice from the various vineyard lots
is fermented and kept separately until blending decisions
are made in mid November. The cuvee (blend) was assembled in
December of 2004, cold stabilized to remove
excess tartrates and then bottled in the spring of 2005. The
cuvee included 25% oak cask aged non-vintage wines that
were carefully selected for this blend. The non-vintage
J
Cuvee 20 Brut gracefully opens up with crisp lemon peel, honeysuckle and
delicate yeast aromas. Upon entry, these notes are followed
by a mix of Fuji apple, grapefruit and a sweet hint
of angel food cake. The mid-palate is interlaced with
toast, caramel and almond flavors. The acidity adds
just enough liveliness and the citrus zest leads to a
lingering, warm pear and lush finish. This wine pairs beautifully
with a Kumamoto oyster topped with Tsar Nicoulai Caviar in
a 'J'
Cuvee 20 mignonette. 49% Chardonnay, 49% Pinot Noir, 2%
Pinot Meunier. 12.4% alcohol.

THE VINTAGE
The 2007 growing season started off with
a dry spring that led into even, steady summer
temperatures with no dramatic fluctuations. These
near-perfect conditions resulted in uniform ripening,
for rich varietal character and vibrant acidity. The
grapes were harvested in the early morning hours and
arrived at the winery crisp, cold and in pristine
condition.
THE WINE
After gentle pressing, a slow, cold
fermentation occurred in small 100% French oak barrels
(48% new). The wine was then aged in barrel for 5
months. Minimal malolactic fermentation allowed the wine
to retain its natural acidity-a hallmark of Russian
River Valley fruit. This acidity contributes to the
wine's clean and distinctive finish On the nose, our
2007 Chardonnay offers multi-layered hints of pear,
citrus, kiwi and hawthorn accented by vanilla creme
brUlee. A creamy palate complemented by ample acidity
supports flavors of Fuji apple, pineapple, and Meyer
lemon with appealing minerality. This wine has a
delicious balance of rich, aromatic fruit and crisp
acidity. 13.5% alcohol.

THE VINTAGE
The 2005 growing season was remarkably abundant,
allowing us to thin the vines early in the season for optimal
uniformity. Exceptional weather during harvest allowed the
grapes to develop optimal ripeness and complex structure.
THE WINE
The 2005 Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon spent 22 days
in stainless steel tanks for primary fermentation and extended
maceration, followed by two weeks in large upright oak tanks for
malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged for six months in
large upright oak tanks and then aged in 64% French and 36%
American oak barrels for 12 months. Prior to release, the wine
was bottled and held for another 20 months. 76% Cabernet
Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot; 13.5% alcohol. With
concentrated aromas of cassis, cherry, cedar, red rose petal and
tobacco this wine's complexity continues through the flavors,
which include red currant, cherry, blackberry and blueberry with
a hint of vanilla from oak aging. Round tannins balance
and support this medium-bodied wine's ripe fruit. This wine
shows beautifully in its youth and will continue to age
gracefully for a decade or more.

THE VINTAGE
During a ten year span of winemaking at Jordan,
only three vintages displayed the quality necessary to bear the
Jordan label as a Sauterne-style wine. What typifies a great
Sauterne is not only intriguing apricot and honey character
derived from the noble botrytis mold, but also the
elegance of fruit, viscosity and acidity that gives the wine a
weight not too sweet and not too alcoholic. It is the balance,
therefore, that marks a great dessert wine. We feel we achieved
that aim in this vintage.
THE WINE
The 1982 Riviere Russe has a perfume of intense
honey and apricot, yet in the palate the balace of sugar and
natural acidity supports the fruit in the mouth and leaves a
long lasting finish without being cloying. Wines made from fruit
infected with the "noble rot" of botrytis cineria
especially benefit from bottle aging. Unlike many white wines
that fade with age, this wine only gets better. 50%
Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Semillon. The wine was fermented for
36 days, and remained in French oak barrels for 14 months before
being bottled. 12.85% alcohol. |
