Smith & Wollensky is the preferred steakhouse for the 2011 Deutsche Bank Championship, New England’s premier PGA Tour event. The event is hosted at the Tournament Players Club of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, August 30 through September 5.
This year’s Red Sox & Legends Pro-Am event featured 110 players, with each of the 22 fivesomes headlined by a PGA Tour pro and sporting dignitary. The team led by retired Boston Red Sox slugger Sam Horn and 2010 PGA Tour winner Derek Lamely captured winning honors at the event with a 16-under-par 55 score.
Smith & Wollensky was represented by General Manager David Doyle, Chef John Piccolino and friend of Smith & Wollensky, Jim Noris were paired with former Boston Red Sox player Luis Tiant. Unfortunately hurricane Irene kept President Michael Feighery and Mark DeBlois, Managing Partner with parent company, Bunker Hill Capital unable to travel to the event.
“The Smith & Wollensky brand means something different to everyone—but in the world of sports, our restaurants are a place to gather before the big game, a table around which to celebrate victory and a refuge in which to commiserate on a loss,” said Doyle. “We are proud to support the Red Sox Foundation to raise funds for the needy in our community. As one of the golfers representing Smith & Wollensky, I am very proud to have participated in this worthwhile event.”
Over the past eight years, the event has raised over $700,000 for the Red Sox Foundation, which benefits children and families in need across New England. To learn more about the Red Sox Foundation, volunteer or make a personal donation, click here.
