LAS VEGAS (Nov. 19, 2013)—The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group (SWRG) presented representatives of the Keep Memory Alive and the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health organizations with a $25,000 check at the Green Carpet Event held at the Smith & Wollensky Las Vegas location on Nov. 19. The restaurant group recently partnered with the two Las Vegas headquartered organizations during its 53rd National Wine Week to support the important work done on behalf of patients and their families with neurological disorders.

“We take pride in cultivating memorable experiences for our guests and strive to make a meaningful impact where we can,” said Michael Feighery, president of SWRG. “It has been amazing to see how our patrons poured out their support of these two organizations during National Wine Week and we are pleased to make this donation in support of the continued work to improve the lives of so many patients and their families affected by brain disorders.”

Every 70 seconds someone in America is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Between 7 and 10 million people have Parkinson’s. The effect of these and other brain diseases reach far beyond those who are afflicted, today more than 15 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with dementia.[1]

“The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health offers a unique model of integrated care and research, including an exceptional caregiver program and an extensive clinical trial program,” said Larry Ruvo, co-founder and chairman for Keep Memory Alive. “With help from partners like Smith & Wollensky on the front line as we fight Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s and Parkinson’s disease, as well as frontotemporal dementia and multiple sclerosis, together we will find cures for these mind-robbing diseases.”
