Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group relocates on the Las Vegas Strip with April 2019 opening

 

LAS VEGAS, NV (December 4, 2018) – The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, Inc. (SWRG), a collection of iconic American steakhouses headquartered in Boston, is set to debut its all new Smith & Wollensky Las Vegas location at the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian® Resort Las Vegas. Construction is currently underway at the highly anticipated “America’s Steakhouse” branded restaurant and is slated to be unveiled April 2019.

“Las Vegas, we’re back, and we are thrilled to unveil an all new updated look and feel, enhancing the overall steakhouse experience for our guests,” said Michael Feighery, CEO & President of Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group. “The return to Las Vegas is very special to me, as I opened and managed the first iconic location on the Las Vegas Strip back in December of 1998, and I cannot wait to return to The Strip with an all new location. We are all looking forward to reliving old memories and creating new ones with you soon at our new Grand Canal Shoppes location this spring!”

Spanning over 14,000 square feet and two stories tall, Smith & Wollensky Las Vegas will be located at the South Canal turnaround inside the Grand Canal Shoppes. Boasting the evolution of the original Smith & Wollensky design, interwoven with the retail destination’s Italian flair, guests will immediately be greeted by the familiar Smith & Wollensky inspired green awnings and signature latticework. The restaurant will feature a warm inviting atmosphere, complete with a tavern like open concept bar and lounge, located off the promenade level, just steps away from the indoor canal. High upon the overlook mezzanine level, guests will be treated to an impressive wine wall and a peek-a-boo view into the famed butcher room, as well as main dining room, bar and lounge, and ample private event space – including an intimate all glass private room overlooking the bar and promenade.

The all new restaurant will feature the distinctive décor and design that Smith & Wollensky is known for. Showcasing an array of the brand’s signature green and white colors, as well as antique lighting, handcrafted glazed brick tile, and herringbone dark wood flooring complemented by plaid mosaic tile, guests will be welcomed by the eclectic style that is unique to the Smith & Wollensky brand. The upper level features an art deco inspired 18 seat bar outfitted with mirror hidden television and a luxurious lounge complete with leather tufted booths and Lincoln chairs. Among the expansive dining room, guests can enjoy seating for up to 300 guests, including choice of leather power booths and expandable tables with comfortable nail head trimmed chairs. Several private event spaces round out the dining room, which can be combined, and are fully equipped with state-of-the-art A/V accommodations able to host groups from 40 to 400.

Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group has partnered with an esteemed lineup of Greater Boston area collaborators, as well as Las Vegas based architect and construction teams to create the new restaurant space. The restaurant will be designed by longtime partner of Smith & Wollensky Group and renowned Boston based restaurant architect designer, Peter Niemitz of Niemitz Design Group, as well as Las Vegas based Richardson Wetzel Architects (RWA Architects).

In addition, TEAM Construction will build out the existing restaurant space and has over 60 years of combined construction experience in all aspects of commercial construction, with a focus on restaurants, retail, gaming and hospitality. Hospitality experts, Stys Hospitality Initiative (SHI), will lead the project management, with a seasoned senior team that brings more than 20 years each of architectural, engineering, construction and project management experience.

Celebrating over 40 years as America’s classic steakhouse, the original Smith & Wollensky location opened in 1977 in New York City and has since become an institution known for its American hospitality and New York style swagger. The time-honored steakhouse brand has expanded to six locations across the top cities in America, including Boston, Chicago, Columbus, and Miami Beach, as well as their first international location in London. In addition, the Smith & Wollensky brand plans to open a location in Taipei, Taiwan this December 2018.
