BOSTON- (Jan. 30, 2020) – Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, a collection of iconic steakhouses that feature acclaimed wine lists, has added a new luxury 2016 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon to its portfolio of Smith & Wollensky-branded wines. This exceptional wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the premier American Viticultural Area of Rutherford in Napa Valley. Rutherford is known for its drastic night-and-day temperature shifts, sandy alluvial soils and the “dusty” finish to its wines, similar to the Pauillac region in Bordeaux.

 

To welcome the addition of this luxurious 100% Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Smith & Wollensky will offer the following introductory special offers including sizzling steak and full-bodied pairings, available beginning Feb. 4, just in time for Valentine’s Weekend!

About Smith & Wollensky 2016 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes: Aromas of red and dark fruits, with vanilla and mocha. Flavors of Christmas spice, black raspberries, black cherries and chocolate. Firm tannins and good acidity. The finish lingers with leather, mocha and spice.

Vineyard Notes: Sourced entirely from our Rutherford vineyard with soils from three alluvial fans, primarily gravelly, sandy and loamy. Rutherford soils are dominated by the Franciscan marine sedimentary materials with some volcanic deposits featuring volcanic and porous soils with moderate overall temperatures.

Composition: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Aging: 24 months in French oak, 70% new
