Smith & Wollensky Atlantic Wharf Announces Restaurant Enhancement Plans and Debut of Nightly Wine Dinner this Fall

BOSTON (August 21, 2018) – In October, Smith & Wollensky Atlantic Wharf celebrates its eighth year as Boston’s quintessential American steakhouse in the booming Seaport District area. To commemorate the occasion, the restaurant will make significant enhancements and expansion to the dining room and private event areas, and introduce an exciting “After 8” Nightly Wine Dinner this fall.

Smith & Wollensky Atlantic Wharf is located on the cusp of the Financial and Seaport Districts at Boston’s Fort Point Channel, at 294 Congress Street. The 10,000 square foot, 280-seat restaurant plus 100-seat patio has been a long-standing and popular fixture in the Greater Boston community, serving their signature USDA Prime dry-aged steaks, premium seafood and award-winning wines to devoted urban-dwelling locals, business diners and travelers year after year.

While our guests have enjoyed our waterfront dining spaces, we see a demand for more private event space capacity and flexibility to accommodate the growing Seaport businesses, residential community and convention groups. We also plan to continue evolving and upgrading our patio and outdoor bar experience to stay competitive and fresh in what we offer. And our  “After 8” Nightly Wine Dinner starting this fall will provide an additional way to enjoy a premium steak and wine experience any night of the week.”

The improvements to the restaurant have begun and are being overseen by Boston-based Peter Niemitz Design Group and Stys Hospitality & Co. The Private Dining Room is being upgraded to feature a more contemporary design in addition to an expanded capacity, where business and social events from 40 to 100 will be hosted in a flexible, dividable and fully enclosed glass space. The Liberty Room, which segues to the outdoor patio and lounge along the Channel, is being expanded to accommodate groups up to 20 seated for events, providing more versatile indoor/outdoor event layout possibilities. These new accommodations will be prime for hosting large-scale holiday parties, corporate events and more, with additional space for partial and full venue buyouts, both in and outdoors.

The main dining room will receive interior upgrades as well, including a newly expanded wine storage area featuring a custom glass-enclosed Sub-Zero wine refrigeration system, produced by Clarke Kitchens, installed in various areas throughout the restaurant. This premium storage and facility reiterates the supreme quality of the restaurant’s wine program, selection and service, as referenced by the location’s 2018 “Best Of” Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator for their impressive collection of over 600 domestic and international selections.  In marking the eighth year at the location, Smith & Wollensky will begin an “After 8” Wine Dinner special launching in October. The special will be offered nightly after 8 p.m. and will be priced at $80 per person. Local urban dwellers can enjoy any starter, any steak or entrée, any side and any dessert on the specialty wine dinner menu, alongside a choice of unlimited tastings of four featured wines each evening. The highlighted wines will change monthly and will be posted online in advance. More details on the “After 8” Nightly Wine Dinner program will be shared soon.
