Smith & Wollensky Debuts in Manila, Expands Footprint Across Asia
“America’s Steakhouse” continues international expansion efforts
Manila, Philippines – June 2025 —The iconic U.S. steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky, famously described by the New York Times as “the steakhouse to end all arguments,” has officially opened its first location in the Philippines, situated in The Finance Center at the heart of Bonifacio. Global City (BGC), the Manila branch, marks another significant milestone in the
brand’s global expansion and introduces a new level of luxury steakhouse dining to the city’s
vibrant culinary scene.
Smith & Wollensky has long been celebrated for its commitment to quality, hospitality, and a timeless dining experience. The Manila restaurant brings the full experience to local diners —
from hand-cut steaks, dry-aged in-house and colossal shellfish towers to expertly-crafted cocktails and an award-winning wine program — all served in a setting that blends classic American charm with contemporary sophistication. The restaurant will also feature live jazz in keeping with some other locations in Asia.
"We’re thrilled to bring the iconic Smith & Wollensky experience to Manila, marking an exciting new chapter for our brand in Asia. This opening reflects our commitment to delivering world-class dining in dynamic, global financial centers and gateway cities around the world, and we look forward to continuing our expansion across the region and beyond,” said Nathan Evans, President of Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group. “Our passion for quality and hospitality that defines Smith & Wollensky resonates with guests around the world, and we’re excited to share this legacy with an even broader audience."
The Manila opening is part of a long-standing, highly focused expansion strategy across Asia.
“We have been looking for the right opportunity to enter the Philippine market for several years,” said Oliver Munday, Chief Development Officer at Smith & Wollensky. Watching Manila and
particularly Bonafacio Global City develop into this world-class destination only underscored our determination to be here. We cannot wait to become part of this vibrant community.”
Following the successful launch of its two Taiwan locations and Seoul, South Korea, Smith & Wollensky is also set to open new restaurants in Tokyo, Japan and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in
the near future. These additions will further solidify the brand’s presence in the region and bring its signature dining experience to more discerning guests across Asia.
In addition to its growing international footprint, Smith & Wollensky continues to operate iconic locations in the United States, including three locations in the Boston area, Miami, Las Vegas,
and Chicago, each known for delivering the brand’s hallmark hospitality and culinary excellence.
